History:
The first Indigo Mage was seen before the Salem Witch trials. She may or may not have been hung during the trials, but shortly after the trials, Indigo Mage appeared agan. Through out the years Indigo Mage has protected the citizens of Salem with her witchcraft. She sometimes will disappear for years at a time, but will always return to protect her city. Throughout the years, she has been described as a teenager with purple eyes, and sometimes purple hair.
Indigo Mage had been missing for years when Aleera turned 13. Her family told her the family history, revealing the first Indigo Mage as Aleera's ancestor. A few days later, Aleera dreamed about a purple eyed teen giving her an ancient venetian purple mask, telling her that it was now hers to wear. When she woke up, the mask from her dream was on her desk, along with a book titled Veneficus Libri. Aleera spent time trying to decipher the latin of the ancient book, often calling apon the local occult store for help.
Within a week, Aleera had deciphered a few of the spells, enchantments, and curses. She was called out of school shortly before summer break. Her house had been set on fire, her parents dead. The only things not harmed by the fire had been the box with the mask and spell book. That night, in the orphanage, she dreamt of the girl with the purple eyes, but she was unmasked this time.
"The Nightmare Magi is telling us he is tired of waiting. It is time to wear the mask." - Indigo Mage
The girl taught Aleera about the Nightmare Magi, Indigo Mage's timeless foe, the one Aleera will battle constantly. Aleera decided that she would defeat him and thus began patrolling the streets the next night. Aleera and her mother had designed a costume to wear when she would patrol. Aleera continues to hone her magical abilities on criminals and some of the supervillains the Nightmare Magi has sent to Salem to test the young witch. She recently joined the Millennium Guard and while she rooms in the 'club house' she still patrols Salem from time to time.
Recently, during Halloween, a rip occured around Indigo Mage, throwing her into an alternate reality as her doppleganger, the villain Witchbane, entered this world. Indigo Mage was able to return back to her reality, though Witchbane still runs free.
Powers / Equipment:
Mask of Mages: A purple silk venetian mask, owned by all previous Indigo Mages, holds a small amount of magic to augment the wearer's natural magical abilities
Veneficus Libri: A book of ancient spells, curses, and enchantments that has been passed down through generations, other spells have been added.
Vis Carcer (Violet Prism): Purple light traps the target until the spell is released.
Redimio (Binding): Freezes opponent in place
Curse of Death: Knocks target unconcious when English incantation is used, target is killed when latin incantation is used.
Indigentia Burst (Indigo Burst): a blast of purple energy is hurled at the target
Weaknesses:
Because Aleera is istill in school, she is not always able to patrol during the week. her power is raw talent so she cannot completely control it ad it drains her physically when she uses too much. Her Latin is of a poor quality and she stumbles over the words in incantations causing the spells not to work
Creator (Real Life) Info:
I am also a teen, but I live in the Los Angeles area, not Salem
Sorry I haven't been around much, I've had issues, but hopefully they've resolved themselves for now and I'll be able to get on the board for a while before they come back up.
