History:

As a semi-practicing Shinto in the metro-Detroit area, Eric Hubbard longed for a chance to see some of the shrines that famously dot rural Japan. When he finally got the chance, he took full advantage, and plotted an itinerary that took him to most of the larger ones still standing.

On the trip, which secured his faith, he earned the friendship of another traveller more well versed in Japanese, named Toshiro. Together, they visited and photographed as much of the shrines as they were allowed, until they came to a very ancient shrine in Aomori Prefecture.

There, they saw a pair of twin glass orbs, one blue and the other red. The blue one imediately began to move when they entered, and rolled to Eric's feet. He picked it up and noticed a single kanji inscribed into it, one he recognized even, which translated to "Water".

Toshiro, however, knew where they were, and grew jealous when the blue orb moved, but the red didn't. He attacked Eric, who defended himself with martial arts knowledge he never had known before in his life. This didn't stop Toshiro, who in his rage grabbed the red orb and disappeared in a gout of flame.

Looking at the blue orb in his hand, Eric knew it had something to do with his new ability, and jumped as it melted into his hands. A voice then sounded in his mind, confirming it all. In addition to his ability to fight, he was granted fluency in Japanese, and the fantastic abilities he now parlays as FrostHeart, the frozen defender.

Living in Michigan, FrostHeart is lucky to have found a place that environmentally gives him the advantage over his erstwhile nemesis Toshiro. The summer is mild and the winter can be bitter, and drives Enryu southward, into other heroes' hometowns yearly.

Powers / Equipment:

FrostHeart has gained a number of abilities associated with ice and water. He can create, control, shape and maintain ice structures of many shapes and sizes through concentration. These shapes usually consist of walls, projectiles, a pair of ice blades, and an icy armor to defend himself. He can also cause ice to shape itself around enemies, immobilizing them or acting as temporary handcuffs.

In addition to shaping and summoning ice, FrostHeart is immune to the effects of cold on the human body, particularly hypothermia and frostbite, and can breathe and move underwater as easily as he can on dry land.

Weaknesses:

Any ice created by FrostHeart melts at the usual rate for its evironment, unless he is touching the form and concentrating. In addition, when using ice as an armor to deflect blows, he essentially is immobilized himself, as ice is not a flexible material.

His powers do not function at full capacity with an ambient air temperature above 95 degrees farenheit, and at about 100 degrees, he begins to suffer pain and his physical abilities are diminished to just below average human ability.

Arch-Nemesis:

FrostHeart's arch-nemesis is Toshiro, now going by Enryu. At first friends, Toshiro's jealousy for the ice orb's actions led him to take the fire orb, giving him similar physical abilities and knowledge as that granted to Eric, but granting him power over fire. Similarly, near freezing temps are Enryu's weakness, a fact FrostHeart is well aware of, as Enryu never attacks during winter.
