History:

When he was 14, Ray was not a popular kid.  He was uncoordinated and shy, and pretty much felt left out of pack.  One day he was handed a play script and was surrounded by a nimbus of green light.  Once he was cast in a lead role of Shakepeare's "The Taming of the Shrew", he finally found something he was good at - acting!  Over time he honed his craft, and started to branch out into other artistic endeavors, such as singing and writing, so he could continue to grow.  Now a champion of the arts, ActingUp has made it his mission in life to show other kids, teenagers and adults that they can find their true selves using the arts.

Special Note: Ray is discovering that the origin of his powers may come from his grandfather (active in theatre himself, was also a circus clown and radio personality), who died shortly before his birth.  Are these powers a family trait, passed on genetically or spiritually?  He may never know.

Powers / Equipment:

ActingUp has the power of shapeshifting and persuasion, used to enhance his theatrical craft.  He has a photographic memory, which helps him recall secret documents and playscripts with alarming clarity.  He also wears a trenchcoat, with pockets full of theatrical wigs, make-up and duct tape - the tools of his trade.  And though not a power, he tends to lighten the tense moments with humor.

Weaknesses:

ActingUp's persuasion power comes from his speaking and singing voice - if he's gagged or has larengitis, his power won't work.  His shapeshifting requires complete concentration, and if he's distracted he'll lose the image he's trying to portray.  When he uses his photographic memory, he forgets common simple things, such is when he's supposed to be at work or if he took out the garbage - much to RedFaery's dismay!  Finally, he possesses an actor's ego, making him arrogant much of the time.

Creator (Real Life) Info:

ActingUp is based completely on Ray Robinson's life, and everything is 100% true (except the green nimbus of light thing).

Character Rights:

Ray retains all rights to the character's name, image, likeness, costume design and background story - no money made off of him without his permission basically.  ActingUp can be used in ANY amateur work and/or fan fiction without prior approval, so long as there is no money made - the only thing he asks is that you make sure Ray gets to read the final work!  He's vain like that...
